In this unprecedented theatrical experiment, all audience members become competitors. You will compete in a series of elimination games hosted by drag duo xLq. ARE YOU THE ONE? is a game show and a queer pop concert. No one sits on the sidelines. How far will you go to become The One?  Will you throw your competition under the bus? Will you give up? What will it take to survive?  Are you THE ONE?

xLq developed ARE YOU THE ONE? in residency with Nightswimming and thanks Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts for their support!

xLq is a POP ART performance duo founded in 2015 – STARLIGHT and Maddie Bautista’s twin drag persona. We are party makers, cabaret hosts, experimental live art innovators and creators of interactive theatrical playgrounds that have toured Canada.

Their original performance creation 4inXchange received Nightswimming’s 5x25 Commission and won the NOW Magazine Audience Choice Award at the 2018 SummerWorks Festival, then proceeded to tour to the rEvolver Festival 2019 (Vancouver, BC), FEM FEST 2019 (Winnipeg, MB), the Grand Theatre (Fergus, ON), Registry Theatre (Kitchener, ON), and Waterford Old Town Hall (Waterford, ON).

xLq’s parties include Wishing Well which was curated at Buddies in Bad Times for Nuit Blanche 2024 and TRASH SANCTUARY.
