Energy - it heats our homes and cooks our food, but how do we reconcile our feelings about this
commodity when it’s extracted, processed and shipped right through our neighbourhoods? The
longstanding relationship between a rural community and an energy company is put to the test as plans
for a new sour gas pipeline unfold.
Good Fences is a brand new show from the creators of the award-winning In the Wake, winner of the 2010 Betty Mitchell
Award for Outstanding New Play. This new work promises to be theatrical and thought-provoking as the ensemble delves into the relationship
between two of Alberta’s most critical industries - agriculture and oil & gas.
Join us Saturday, September 3rd at 2 pm in EPCOR CENTRE's Motel for a free work-in-progress presentation.
Downstage's production of Good Fences is created by Ethan Cole, Ellen Close, Col Cseke, Nicola
Elson, Anton deGroot, Braden Griffiths and Simon Mallett, and dramaturged by Vicki Stroich.
"Downstage Creation Ensemble brings such honesty, curiosity, good faith, and high spirits to this highly
entertaining and thought-provoking project. I'm looking forward to the conversations about this one." - Vanessa Porteous, ATP Artistic Director
